I have a child with SEN. How can I help my child to remember what they have learned?

Use visual aids, for example, mind maps and spider diagrams, to show parts of a topic to be learned, to summarise a topic, to link information and mark progress. These can be placed in various locations around your house - they do not have to be rigid to where you study.

Use mnemonics e.g. Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet reminds us of the order of the colours of the rainbow), repetition and visualisation is also key with these rhymes. Maybe ask your child to draw a representation to place on the wall and make the rhyme theirs.
