The 11 plus and the common entrance exam are the same exam but different places and institutions use different terms. The term ‘11 plus’ is usually used by state and grammar schools whereas the term “common entrance exam” is often used by private and independent schools. It is also known as the “Kent test” and the “transfer test” in other parts of the country.
