Most students who take GCSEs are aged between 14-16, however there is no minimum or maximum age to take your GCSEs. You as a homeschooling parent can enroll your child at any age you think they are ready to sit their exams.

There are the few steps you need to follow to book your child’s GCSEs privately:

Step 1 Make sure your child has the preparation material for the chosen GCSE.

Step 2 Choose where you want your child to sit their GCSE exam. For some subjects, you may only have one exam location in your area, which limits your options. However for most popular subjects such as Maths and English, there will be a range of sites to choose from.

Step 3 Find out when the GCSEs take place so that you can get your child’s space locked in and booked in advance. The exam dates are set at a national level, and spaces can fill up quickly. If you don’t book in advance, you can easily miss out. Aim to get them booked at least six months in advance.

Step 4 Pay the fees. As a private GCSE candidate, your child’s exams are not free. You’ll need to pay for each one individually at the time of booking. This fee is not typically refundable or changeable, so make sure you’re booking the correct date and time.

Step 5 After booking, make sure you are aware of the correct board as your child prepares for their specific exam, different exam boards can slightly differ in what is included in their exams.
